Pieris Forest Flame
Pieris Forest Flame
Pieris ‘Forest Flame’ is an evergreen, acid-loving shrub valued for its dramatic foliage: new leaves emerge vivid red, pass through pink and cream, and mature to glossy dark green. In spring it bears pendent clusters of small, urn-shaped white flowers. For Irish gardens, grow in moist but well-drained, humus-rich acidic soil in full sun or light shade, with shelter from cold, drying winds; it also performs well in large containers of ericaceous compost. Mulch annually with ericaceous organic matter, feed after flowering with an ericaceous fertiliser, and remove spent flower clusters to prevent seed set and encourage better flowering the following year.
To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
