Callistemon citr. 'Splendens' P30
Callistemon citr. ‘Splendens’ is an evergreen bottlebrush shrub valued for its vivid red, brush-like flower spikes in late spring to early summer and narrow, aromatic green leaves. For Irish gardens, plant in full sun in a warm, sheltered spot, ideally against a south- or west-facing wall, in moderately fertile, well-drained soil that is neutral to acidic (avoid shallow chalk). It makes a striking specimen or wall-side shrub; prune lightly after flowering to maintain shape. Frost hardy, but protect from severe or prolonged cold in colder areas.
To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
