Weigela Kosteriana Variegata
Weigela Kosteriana Variegata
A classic variegated weigela with a naturally arching, bushy habit, Weigela ‘Kosteriana Variegata’ bears soft pink, funnel-shaped flowers in early summer that contrast beautifully with green leaves edged in creamy yellow that mature to cream. A reliable, fully hardy, deciduous shrub for Irish gardens, it performs best in full sun or light shade on any moderately fertile, moist but well-drained soil, making a fine choice for mixed borders and informal planting. Expect an eventual height and spread of around 2–3m with a generally fast growth rate; prune after flowering, removing some of the oldest stems to encourage strong new shoots for next year’s display.
To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
