Verbena in varieties
Verbena in varieties
Verbena in varieties are sun-loving, long-flowering herbaceous plants valued for generous clusters of nectar-rich blooms from summer into early autumn. Suited to sunny borders and containers, they prefer moderately fertile, well-drained soil and benefit from regular deadheading to prolong display. In Ireland, plant in a warm, sheltered, free‑draining position; water to establish, then keep on the drier side in settled weather. Many forms are highly attractive to pollinators, especially butterflies. Protect tender varieties from frost or grow as seasonal bedding; hardier perennial types may overwinter in free-draining soil.
To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
