THALICTRUM Black Stockings
THALICTRUM Black Stockings
Thalictrum ‘Black Stockings’ is a tall, clump-forming meadow-rue prized for its striking dark, almost black stems topped with airy clusters of soft purple flowers in early to midsummer. Its fresh green, finely divided foliage provides a delicate foil that lifts mixed and cottage-style borders, adding height and a light, see-through effect among perennials. Grow in sun or light shade in moisture-retentive, humus-rich but well-drained, moderately fertile soil; keep evenly moist in dry spells for best performance. Fully hardy in Ireland.
To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
