Stipa tenuissima Ponytails 12cm Pot

Stipa tenuissima Ponytails 12cm Pot

Stipa tenuissima ‘Ponytails’ is a graceful, clump-forming, semi-evergreen grass valued for its ultra-fine, hair-like green leaves and airy, feathery summer panicles that shimmer from green to buff and move beautifully in the breeze. Thriving in full sun and well-drained, moderately fertile soil, it forms soft mounds to around 60cm tall and 50cm wide, bringing texture and movement to borders and low-maintenance cottage or architectural plantings. Drought-tolerant once established and holder of the RHS Award of Garden Merit, it’s easy to grow in Irish gardens; leave the foliage over winter for protection, then gently comb out dead material in spring.

To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
