Sisyrinchium 'E K Balls'

Sisyrinchium 'E K Balls' is a compact, clump-forming, semi-evergreen perennial bearing abundant purple, yellow-eyed, starry flowers from late spring into early summer above neat fans of narrow, grass-like leaves. Well suited to the front of borders, edging and rock gardens in Ireland, it performs best in full sun or light shade and moderately fertile, well-drained soil, forming tidy clumps to around 20–30cm over time.

To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall).
