SALVIA nem. Ostfriesland
Salvia nemorosa ‘Ostfriesland’ is a compact, clump-forming perennial producing dense upright spikes of violet‑purple flowers above fresh green foliage from early summer into early autumn. Ideal for sunny mixed borders and cottage-style plantings, it provides a long, bee-friendly display and will repeat well if spent spikes are removed; shear lightly after the first flush to encourage further blooms. Grow in full sun in well-drained, moderately fertile soil; avoid waterlogging. Fully hardy in Ireland.
To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
