Salvia 'Amistad'
Salvia Amistad
Salvia ‘Amistad’ is a striking, tall perennial salvia bearing velvety deep purple flowers in near-black calyces over a long season from early summer into autumn. Grow in full sun in a sheltered spot with fertile, moist but well-drained soil; deadhead regularly to extend the display. Excellent for the middle to back of sunny borders and for large containers, and highly attractive to pollinators. Not reliably hardy in Ireland: mulch and provide winter protection, or overwinter cuttings under cover.
To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
