PERSICARIA aff. 'Darjeeling Red' 3L

Persicaria affinis ‘Darjeeling Red’ is a vigorous, semi-evergreen, mat-forming perennial groundcover. Low carpets to around 15cm high spread to form dense clumps, topped with short, slender spikes of small bright pink flowers that deepen to rich red from midsummer into autumn. Narrow, glossy green leaves often take on bronze-red tints in winter for extended seasonal interest. Reliable and easy in Irish gardens, it thrives in full sun or light shade and moist but well-drained, moderately fertile soil, making an excellent choice for edging paths, rock gardens and the front of mixed borders. Deadhead to tidy if required and avoid waterlogged sites.

To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
