Molinia caerulea 'Moorflamme'
Molinia caerulea 'Moorflamme'
Molinia caerulea ‘Moorflamme’ is a graceful, clump-forming deciduous moor grass valued for its airy, purple-tinged flower panicles in late summer and fine, upright habit. The narrow green leaves form an elegant tussock that brings movement and a light, translucent feel to borders and naturalistic plantings, with foliage taking warm autumn tones before dying back for winter. Best grown in sun or light shade in moist but well-drained, neutral to acid, moderately fertile soil. Fully hardy in Ireland and low maintenance; leave the flower stems for winter structure and cut back old growth in late winter before new shoots emerge.
To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
