Miscanthus sin. 'Gracillimus' 50-70 cm.
Miscanthus sinensis 'Gracillimus' is an elegant, clump-forming deciduous grass prized for its fine, arching green leaves with a distinct white midrib that create a graceful fountain of movement from summer into winter. Best grown in full sun and in moist but well-drained, moderately fertile soil, it develops into a tall, narrow mound that brings strong structure to borders and mixed plantings. Feathery plumes may appear from late summer to autumn, maturing to a silvery effect and providing lasting winter interest. In Ireland, leave the foliage standing for winter structure and cut back close to the base in late winter or early spring before new growth emerges.
To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
