Lychnis coronaria Atrosanguinea

Lychnis coronaria Atrosanguinea

Lychnis coronaria ‘Atrosanguinea’ is a short‑lived perennial prized for vivid deep crimson blooms held on branching stems above soft, silvery, felted foliage. Flowering through early to late summer, it brings a long season of colour to sunny, free‑draining borders and gravel plantings, and the open flowers are attractive to pollinators. Grow in full sun or light shade and well‑drained, poor to moderately fertile soil; it copes well with dry conditions once established. Deadhead to extend the display, or leave some seedheads for light self‑seeding. Eventual height around 60–90cm, with a modest spread.

To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
