LIQUIDAMBER S. SLENDER SILHOUETTE

Liquidambar styraciflua 'Slender Silhouette' is a strikingly narrow, columnar sweet gum ideal where space is tight but height and structure are desired. A deciduous tree with deep green, maple-like leaves, it brings superb seasonal interest as foliage turns through shades of yellow, orange, red and purplish tones in autumn. Suited to Irish gardens, it performs best in full sun to light shade in moist but well-drained, moderately fertile soil that is preferably acidic, and makes an excellent vertical accent for architectural or formal planting schemes.

To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall).
