IRIS sibirica Butter & Sugar

IRIS sibirica Butter & Sugar

IRIS sibirica ‘Butter & Sugar’ is a graceful, clump-forming Siberian iris valued for its elegant bicolour blooms: creamy-white standards over soft butter-yellow falls. Flowering in late spring to early summer (May to June in Ireland), it provides strong vertical texture from its narrow, green, grass-like leaves. Best in full sun to light shade, in fertile, moisture-retentive but well-drained soil that is neutral to slightly acid; ideal for mixed borders and for planting near the edges of ponds or streams where the ground does not dry out in summer. A fully hardy, deciduous perennial reaching around 60–90cm, with a neat, upright habit; remove spent flower stems and divide congested clumps in late summer to early autumn to maintain vigour.

To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
