Iris laevigata Rose Queen 18 cm aquatic basket
Iris laevigata ‘Rose Queen’ is an elegant waterside iris for ponds and bog gardens, bearing soft rose‑pink flowers above upright, sword‑like green foliage in early to mid-summer. Fully hardy and deciduous, it thrives in Ireland in full sun or light shade. Grow in reliably wet soil at the pond edge or in shallow water using aquatic compost; set the crown at or just below the water surface, with up to around 10 cm of water above the compost in the growing season. Remove spent stems after flowering and cut back old foliage in autumn; divide congested clumps in late summer to maintain vigour.
To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
