Iris kaempferi P9
Iris kaempferi P9
Iris kaempferi (commonly treated as Iris ensata, Japanese iris) is a clump-forming, moisture-loving perennial with upright, sword-like green leaves and striking, flat-faced summer blooms. It thrives in full sun on acid, humus-rich soil that remains consistently moist through the growing season, making it ideal for bog gardens and pond margins where conditions are reliably damp but not waterlogged in winter. Fully hardy, it provides elegant vertical foliage and showy flowers in early to mid-summer under Irish growing conditions.
To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
