Hydrangea macr. White

A classic bigleaf hydrangea with large, glossy green leaves and showy white mophead blooms in summer. Deciduous and of moderate growth, it thrives in sun or light shade and moist, well-drained, moderately fertile soil. Hardy in most UK regions, it benefits from shelter from cold, drying winds. Ideal as a focal shrub in mixed borders or for brightening lightly shaded spots; also suitable for containers. Prune after flowering, removing spent heads and the oldest stems to encourage strong new growth.
