A classic bigleaf hydrangea with bright green, serrated foliage and large pink summer flowerheads, Hydrangea macrophylla is a deciduous shrub ideal for borders, courtyards and cottage-style plantings. Flowering from mid-summer into early autumn, its dried heads can be left on through winter for decorative effect, then pruned in March. Best in partial shade and moist, fertile, well-drained soil. Eventual size around 1.5 × 1.5 m; also useful for fresh or dried cut flowers.
