Hydrangea m. 'Magical Evolution'® blue P14, 56 flower

Hydrangea macrophylla ‘Magical Evolution’ is a compact mophead hydrangea with fresh green, deciduous foliage and summer flowers that are blue in acid conditions. In Ireland it does best in sun or light shade in a sheltered spot, in moist but well‑drained, humus‑rich, moderately fertile soil; use ericaceous compost or feeds and rainwater to help maintain blue tones. Flowers from mid to late summer into early autumn, making a good choice for borders and containers with a cottage feel. Prune lightly in spring by cutting back flowered stems to a strong pair of buds and removing one or two of the oldest stems at the base.

To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
