Geranium pratense 'Midnight Reiter'
Geranium pratense 'Midnight Reiter'
Geranium pratense 'Midnight Reiter' is a compact, deciduous meadow cranesbill prized for its rich, dark purple foliage and clear blue, saucer-shaped flowers in early summer. In Irish gardens it forms a neat mound around 30–45cm tall and 30–60cm wide, thriving in full sun or light shade in moderately fertile, well-drained soil with average moisture. The vivid blooms are attractive to pollinators, and the plant’s tidy habit and contrasting foliage make it an excellent choice for the front of mixed borders and cottage-style plantings.
To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
