Genista Lydia

Genista Lydia

A compact, low, spreading broom forming a neat mound with slender green stems and small leaves, producing masses of bright yellow pea-flowers in late spring to early summer. Well suited to sunny banks, rock gardens and cascading over walls in Ireland, it thrives in full sun and very free‑draining, light, sandy soils; avoid heavy clay and waterlogging. Prune lightly, if needed, immediately after flowering to keep a tidy shape.

To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
