EUPHORBIA amy. Purpurea 2 Litre
Euphorbia amygdaloides ‘Purpurea’ is an evergreen wood spurge valued for its rich purple-toned foliage and fresh, lime-yellow to green spring bracts. Compact and reliable for Irish gardens, it forms neat clumps in sun or light shade and flowers mainly in April and May. Grow in moderately fertile, well-drained soil; trim spent flowered stems back to the base after blooming to keep plants tidy. Take care when pruning, as the milky sap is an irritant—wear gloves. Fully hardy and excellent for providing long-season structure and colour contrast in mixed borders and woodland edges; height and spread around 60–80cm.
To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
