Epimedium Akebono
Epimedium Akebono
Epimedium ‘Akebono’ is a clump-forming, deciduous barrenwort prized for its delicate, soft pink spring flowers held above fresh green, heart-shaped foliage. A reliable choice for Irish gardens, it thrives in partial to full shade and suits woodland edges, underplanting beneath shrubs and trees, or any sheltered, humus-rich border. Flowering mainly in April to May, it prefers moderately fertile, moisture-retentive but well-drained soil, and will tolerate dry shade once established. Growth is slow to moderate; remove old foliage in late winter to showcase the new blooms. Fully hardy and ideal for naturalistic or Asian-inspired planting schemes.
To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
