Digitalis Hanabee
Digitalis Hanabee
Digitalis Hanabee brings the classic foxglove presence to mixed borders and woodland edges, sending up upright spires of tubular blooms above soft green rosettes in early to midsummer. Suited to light shade or sun with moisture-retentive, well-drained, moderately fertile soil, it is a short-lived perennial/biennial that can self-seed if spent spikes are left, creating naturalistic drifts over time. Ideal for cottage-style schemes and valuable for wildlife, as the flowers are excellent for bees; deadhead the main spike after flowering to encourage side shoots, or leave some to set seed. Fully hardy in Ireland.
To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
