Dianthus caryophyllus ‘I Love U’ is a clove-scented carnation forming a neat, evergreen clump and producing richly perfumed summer blooms. Reliable in Irish gardens when given full sun and sharp drainage, it suits sunny borders, raised beds and containers, and makes an excellent cut flower. Grow in well-drained, moderately fertile, neutral to alkaline soil (including chalk). Deadhead to prolong flowering and avoid winter wet on heavy soils.
