DELPHINIUM elatum Highlander Flamenco
DELPHINIUM elatum Highlander Flamenco
Delphinium elatum ‘Highlander Flamenco’ is a classic border perennial prized for its tall, stately flower spikes in early summer. Best grown in full sun in Ireland, it thrives in fertile, moisture-retentive but well-drained soil and benefits from shelter from strong winds. Stake the shoots in spring to support the flowering stems, water in dry spells, and mulch annually to improve soil structure. Deadhead promptly after the first display to encourage a later flush, and protect young growth from slugs and snails.
To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
