DAHLIA 'Arnhem'
DAHLIA 'Arnhem'
Dahlia ‘Arnhem’ is a tuberous perennial prized for a long flowering season from mid-summer into autumn, performing best in full sun and fertile, humus-rich, moist but well-drained soil. For Irish gardens, start tubers into growth under cover in spring and plant out after the last frost in a warm, sheltered spot; feed and water regularly in dry spells, deadhead to prolong blooming, and provide staking if stems require support. After the first frosts, lift and store the tubers in a cool, frost-free place, or in very mild, free-draining sites, leave in the ground under a deep, dry mulch. Superb for mixed borders and cutting, it brings reliable late-season colour alongside other cottage-garden favourites.
To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
