Dahlia 1L
Dahlia 1L
Dahlias provide rich late-summer to autumn colour for borders and large containers, with showy blooms in many forms. They thrive in full sun and fertile, moisture-retentive but well-drained soil; feed regularly and water during dry spells. In Ireland, plant out after the last frost, deadhead to prolong flowering, and stake taller types as needed. Frost-tender: lift and store tubers once foliage is blackened by frost, or mulch deeply in very mild areas.
To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
