Craetagus Pauls Scarlet
Craetagus Pauls Scarlet
Crataegus laevigata 'Paul's Scarlet' is a deciduous small to medium ornamental hawthorn valued in Irish gardens for its reliability and late-spring display of deep pink, double flowers. Forming a rounded crown with green foliage, it suits most moderately fertile soils, including clay or chalk, provided they are well-drained or moist but well-drained. Best in full sun to light shade, this fully hardy tree is a good choice for adding seasonal colour and structure as a specimen or for avenue-style planting, ultimately reaching around 4–8m in height and spread with an average growth rate.
To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
