Cornus alba Sibirica
Cornus alba Sibirica
Cornus alba ‘Sibirica’ is a vigorous, deciduous dogwood valued for its vivid red winter stems, bringing strong seasonal colour to Irish gardens. Through spring and summer it carries green leaves, with small clusters of creamy-white flowers in late spring to early summer, often followed by white berries. Best stem colour develops in full sun, and the shrub responds well to renewal pruning in late winter to early spring. Ultimately forming a medium-sized shrub of roughly 2–2.5m in height and spread, it suits mixed borders, winter-interest planting and informal hedging, in moist but well-drained, moderately fertile soil.
To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
