Cistus Alan Fradd

Cistus Alan Fradd

Cistus ‘Alan Fradd’ is a compact, bushy evergreen rock rose valued for its generous early- to mid-summer display of white, crinkled, saucer-shaped flowers each marked with rich maroon blotches. It thrives in full sun and very well-drained soil that is poor to moderately fertile, including sandy or chalky ground, and is best kept out of winter-wet sites. Well suited to dry, sunny borders, gravel and coastal plantings in Ireland, it is drought tolerant once established and typically forms a rounded shrub around 1–1.5m in height and spread.

To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
