Chamaecyparis obt. Nana Gracilis
Chamaecyparis obt. Nana Gracilis
Chamaecyparis obtusa ‘Nana Gracilis’ is a slow‑growing, compact Hinoki cypress forming a dense, gracefully conical outline with layered, fan‑like sprays of deep green foliage. A fully hardy evergreen that provides year‑round structure, it works beautifully as a long‑lived specimen, in rock gardens and containers, or kept neat with occasional light trimming. For best results in Irish gardens, plant in full sun to light shade in moist but well‑drained, fertile, acid to neutral soil; minimal pruning is needed—trim only young growth and avoid cutting into old wood. Plant in autumn or spring and water regularly during the first season to establish.
To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
