Carex testacea 3L
Carex testacea is a compact, evergreen New Zealand sedge valued for its fine, arching foliage that develops warm bronze–orange tones in sun, bringing year-round texture and colour to borders, gravel or rock gardens, and containers. In Ireland it grows best in full sun or light shade on moderately fertile, well-drained soil and needs little maintenance beyond tidying old leaves in late winter. Tufted clumps typically reach around 30–45cm in height with a spread of 30–60cm at maturity; small, inconspicuous brown flower spikes appear from late spring to early summer.
To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
