Canna (Island) Durban

Canna (Island) Durban

Canna ‘Durban’ is a showy, tender rhizomatous perennial grown for its dramatic, richly variegated foliage and vivid orange summer-to-autumn blooms. In Ireland it performs best in a warm, sunny, sheltered spot with fertile, moisture-retentive but well‑drained soil. Plant out after the last frost and feed and water regularly during the growing season for strong, upright clumps reaching around 1–1.5m. Protect from frost: in colder areas lift and store the rhizomes frost‑free, or mulch deeply to overwinter in mild, sheltered gardens. Ideal for bold, architectural planting and tropical-style borders.

To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
