Andromeda polifolia 'Blue Lagoon' is a compact, slow-growing evergreen shrub valued for its striking glaucous-blue foliage and dainty, nodding, urn-shaped pink flowers in late spring to early summer. For Irish gardens it performs best in consistently moist, lime-free, acidic soil (peaty or sandy), in sun or light shade. Ideal for bog gardens, the edges of water features, or containers filled with ericaceous compost; avoid alkaline soils and summer drought.
