Allium 'Ostara'

Allium ‘Ostara’ is a compact ornamental onion valued for its rounded heads of rich purple, starry flowers in late spring to early summer, held above neat, strap-like green foliage. Best in full sun and fertile, well-drained soil, it thrives in mixed borders and containers, where its bold flower heads add structure and pair well with early perennials and grasses. Low-maintenance and reliable, it copes with dry summer conditions once established and is highly attractive to bees and other pollinators; allow the seedheads to stand for extended seasonal interest.
