ALLIUM Christophii
ALLIUM Christophii
Allium christophii, often called Star of Persia, is a bulbous perennial prized for its striking, architectural globes of starry lilac‑purple flowers in early summer, rising above low, strap-shaped green foliage that withers before bloom. Superb in sunny, well-drained borders, gravel plantings and among low perennials, its ornamental seedheads can be left for long-lasting structure or used for cutting and drying. Grow in full sun and well-drained, moderately fertile soil, including light sandy or chalky ground; fully hardy in Ireland with an average rate of growth.
To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
