AGAPANTHUS africanus 1L T
Agapanthus africanus is an evergreen clump-forming perennial valued for its bold, strap-shaped green leaves and striking rounded heads of blue funnel-shaped flowers held on sturdy stems in summer. Best in full sun and fertile, moist but well-drained soil, it performs well in borders and containers in a sunny, sheltered position. In colder inland parts of Ireland, protect crowns in winter (mulch in the ground or move containers to a frost-free spot). Deadhead after flowering and divide only when clumps become congested; flowering is often best when slightly crowded. Typical flowering is from July into September.
To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
