Acer palmatum Bloodgood 80-100 CM C15

Acer palmatum Bloodgood 80-100 CM C15

Acer palmatum 'Bloodgood' is a deciduous Japanese maple valued for its rich purple foliage that holds well through the growing season before colouring brilliantly in autumn. Best in a sheltered spot, it prefers partial shade where the leaves are protected from drying winds and strong afternoon sun. Plant in a moist but well‑drained, fertile, humus‑rich soil that is slightly acidic, and mulch to keep roots cool. An elegant choice for Irish gardens as a focal specimen or in mixed planting, and it can be grown in a large container with attentive watering. Eventually forms a small tree around 4–8m tall and wide with a graceful, layered habit.

To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
