Acer Aka-shigitatsu-sawa C15
Acer palmatum 'Aka shigitatsu-sawa' is a decorative Japanese maple grown for its graceful branching and finely textured foliage, ideal as a specimen in small gardens, courtyards, or large containers. It does best in a sheltered spot with sun or light shade, on moist but well-drained, humus-rich soil that is neutral to acidic. Protect from drying winds and strong midday sun to reduce the risk of leaf scorch, especially in warmer or exposed positions. Minimal pruning is required beyond removing dead or crossing shoots, and an annual mulch with garden compost or leaf mould helps retain moisture and enrich the soil.
To help give a clear sense of scale, the stone wall shown in our photos measures approximately 265cm in height. We also use familiar garden tools as visual references: a digging fork (110cm tall) and a hand fork (30cm tall). These are included purely as size guides to help you better judge proportions when viewing the images.
